Mkami Mahemba BIOGRAPHY

Mkami Mahemba is a seasoned executive leader who has 17 years of working experience and has held management and senior management positions for over 10 of these years

in reputable organizations. She is currently working as the Director of Finance and Grants for the USAID Boresha Afya Southern Zone Program (UBASZ) leading a diverse team of 47 staff from the finance, grants, procurement, administration and contracting and compliance teams; and driving operational efficiency. In her current role, Mkami formulates strategic priorities of the program in consultation with the core partners and USAID and works with the program’s Executive Management Team to ensure that the expectations of USAID and the program are met. She also takes leadership in the planning and coordination of the annual program budgeting with sub-recipients as part of the annual work planning process and ensures adherence to the budget submission process as per USAID requirements. Over the years she has built key relationships across a broad spectrum of stakeholders including USAID officials, implementing partners, relevant government officials from ministries and regional/local government authorities, sub-recipients as well as vendors and suppliers. Mkami has gained substantial experience in program management with hands-on experience across all stages of the USAID project lifecycle phases including start-up, implementation and close-out of three large USAID-funded health projects. Mkami holds a Master of Business Administration and an Advanced Diploma in Certified Accountancy. She is a Certified Public Accountant
